Valsacro 2001 Rioja

Time for a wine from Spain. It has been a while...
The Bodega Valsacro 2001 Rioja is made from Garnacha, Tempranillo and Mazuelo, and aged in French and American oak for 12 months.
Let it sit in your glass for 5 minutes, and gorgeous black berry and black cherries with black pepper and cinnamon will appear on the nose. On the palate, lush, dark fruit and berries with sweet oak, some spiciness from black pepper, good acidity and smooth tannins. Long, pleasant finish. Overall a very good, nicely balanced wine. And it sells at a good price, from $19.99 at Wine-Searcher.com. I found me bottle at BevMo for $18.99.
