Enjoying your blog Victoria. The Walter Hansel wines seem to be getting better and better to me. The Chardonnays have always been fantastic, but the Pinots have always had a bit to much BRET for my plate. The 2004 vintage seems to be the best vintage yet for the Pinots. It was a hot year in the RRV and Hansel was picking grapes as early as August. The wines seem to come in much cleaner and not have the level of BRET that the previous vintages had. They are now adjusting their yeast program based on the time of year that they are harvesting. This seems to be very effective. I just tasted the 2005 and they were fantastic! Try to get your hands on the Cuvee Alyce Pinot it is a stunner. I know Parker raved about the North Slope but for my money the Cuvee Alyce is the best of the lot for 2004. Know doubt in my mind that W Hansel is the one of the best deals in Pinot in Chard on the planet. Cheers!!!

Thank you for your comment! Their Pinots are getting better and better, although I loved their 2002 Pinots. I've had Cahill, South Slope and North Slope, but never the Cuvee Alyce. I will have to try to get my hands on a bottle. I appreciate you input! Can't wait to try the 2005...
Cheers!
